London , Little Venice canal boat, May 15

We walked to Stephen and Mark's place last night.
Got to meet Leigh, Stephen's co-editor at JÓN and former boss at Phoenix magazine.
He is a fashion photographer, very nice and quite funny!
He lives in the same building and he came down to loan Stephen a cork screw.
We got some food in and watched a movie, The Lady in the Van, quite good.
Karen and I walked back home about 10:30 and had a message waiting from Stephen making sure we had got home safely.
Funny how the roles reverse!
This morning we took the bus all by ourselves to Little Venice, an area on the Regent Canal where you can hire canal boat rides to Regent Park Zoo and further on to Camden Town.
We took the Camden ride, only £7  each for the 1 hour trip.
It went through quite a long tunnel and under lots of old bridges.
We saw lots of canal boats moored all the way along , all with people living in them. I kept wondering if they all flushed into the canal?
It seemed clean enough, no foul smells.
We went past some huge homes backing onto the canal, very expensive looking.
The boat stopped at a dock by the zoo to let people off then  continued on to Camden where we got off.
Camden is known for its market called The Stables after the stables used to house the horses used to pull the boats along the canal.
It is the 4th popular tourist spot in London and  attracts up to a100,000 each weekend and I think they were all there today.
It was packed!
Lots of food stalls but so many people there is nowhere to sit.
We got through the crowd to a much quieter street outside and found  a Vietnamese restaurant to sit and have a nice lunch in.
After lunch we managed to get on the right buses to get back home using our Oyster cards, like the new Compass cards in Vancouver. You buy a prepaid card and tap on and off transit.
We took another bus to Sainsbury's , a big grocery store chain , and bought food for dinner tomorrow.

I am making chicken fajitas at Stephen's for him and Mark and Leigh and his partner Dennis and us.

Should be fun, Leigh is a hoot!
After shopping we came back to recover ,had a vodka tonic on the balcony.
Stephen came over after work for a visit and to hear about our day.
Tonight we will have a quiet evening on our own .
Currently have moved on to wine on the balcony!
